Approximately 140–148 thousand hectares (Drinks Business 2025; Vinerra estimate). Teaching is broken down into "three rings":
(1) Primera Zona - Luján de Cuyo and Maipú
- Lujan de Cuyo: Argentina’s first DOC 1993; Heart of Old Vine Malbec –
- Las Compuertas (1,050m+): Centenary-old vines (Cheval des Andes et al., General Knowledge).
- Agrelo/Alto Agrelo: More clay, strong body; Alto Agrelo is the new IG of 2025-07 (verified).
- Vistalba, Perdriel: traditional famous garden belt.
- Maipú: Historic wineries and sightseeing (Trapiche, López, general knowledge).
(2) Uco Valley——the frontline of quality products
- 1,000–1,700 m above sea level, travertine (caliche) chalk alluvial fan – massif IG sports center.
- Three sections of teaching:
- Tupungato: Gualtallary is the highest and coolest block (Catena Adrianna Garden "White Bones, White Stone" single garden series; Zuccardi Finca Piedra Infinita, general knowledge).
- Tunuyán: Los Chacayes (IG), San Pablo (IG, one of the coolest).
- San Carlos: Paraje Altamira (IG, the first IG delimited by soil research in 2013, General Knowledge), La Consulta.
- Style: floral aroma + lime minerality + vertical acidity - the definer of "New Argentina".
(3) East and South Mendoza
- East (San Martín, etc.): mass production and juice concentrate base – the main source of supply regulation.
- San Rafael: 2nd DOC, less international visibility.
